Chris Hawk Paddleout
November 6th, 2009Friend and legendary surfer and shaper Chris Hawk passed away Oct. 23. A paddleout was held in his honor in Huntington Beach.

September 6th, 2009The Chris Hawk Benefit was held in Huntington Beach on August 28th. It was an incredible night dedicated to a great shaper. Next in the Surfing Heritage Foundation Summer Surf Film Series, “Dear & Yonder” presented by Rainbow Sandals.
Through imagery, music, and art, Tiffany Campbell and Andria Lessler’s film documents the inner spirit of modern day surfers Stephanie Gilmore, Sally Fitzgibbons, Coco Ho, Silvana Lima, Sofia Mulanovich, Kassia Meador, Ashley Davis, Prue Jeffries, Belinda Baggs, Ashley Lloyd, Judith Sheridan, Liz Clark and early pioneers like Linda Benson, Jericho Poppler, and Rell Sunn and the heart of their experiences. The film also features some female skateboarders shredding.

Chris Hawk Benefit – August 28

Chris Hawk is one of the Southland’s legendary surfer-shapers, a well recognized member of the HB – Surf City, San Clemente surf communities and one of the renowned Hawk brothers surf clan: Sam, Tom and Chris. He has been a regular fixture at Terry’s shop for years and everyone has a classic story about Chris.
In his early days as an HB local he often traveled to Hawaii. On one of these trips, he was taken under the tutorage of world renown master shaping legend, Dick Brewer and became a lifetime member of Brewer’s renowned stable of sought after master shapers the likes of Gerry Lopez, Sam Hawk and Reno Abellira to name a few. Chris soon became a household name on the mainland.
Chris was recently diagnosed with throat cancer and began his fight against this terrible disease. An emergency tracheotomy surgery saved Chris’s life and his is now immersed in a debilitating chemotherapy treatment program. At this time, doctors have prohibited Chris from shaping or engaging in any type of physical activity.

“Hanging Five” at SHF this friday
August 5th, 2009Hanging Five will make its OC Premiere 3PM this Friday at the Surfing Heritage Foundation.
San Clemente – Friday Surf Movie at the Surfing Heritage Foundation presents Director Chris Cutri’s film as he follows five artists who all happen to be surfers. The artists are: Andy Davis, Tyler Warren, Julie Goldstein, Alex Knost, and Wolfgang Bloch. Chris, Tyler, and Julie will be here for this screening and they’ll have their work and Andy’s and Wolfgang’s work on display as well. The film starts at 3 pm, with a $3 admission charge but it’s FREE for SHF members.
