Our own Terry Senate will be one of the Master’s of Shaping being judged this weekend. Casa Romantica is hosting Surf Culture Days, a two-day festival, August 1-2, celebrating the people, art, culture, music and history of surfing in San Clemente and Southern California.  Highlights include the premiere of “SHAPED” The Movie at The Surfing Heritage Museum, a documentary film paying tribute the art of shaping. Surfer Magazine sent Zach Weisberg to San Clemente in order to guide you through the process of ordering a custom surfboard from Terry Senate. First mentored by shaping legend Steve Boehne, and later influenced by Ben Aipa, Terry Senate has become one of the surf industry’s most valued shapers. With over 30,000 plus boards that have come out of his “true, core surf shop,” our interviewer added, “After seeing Terry’s operation I ordered a surfboard right on the spot, and I highly recommend having him shape you one.”

Jeffreys Bay, South Africa – Joel Parkinson (AUS), 28, has claimed the 2009 Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay in clean three-to-five foot (1 – 1.5 metre) surf over Damien Hobgood (USA), 30, strengthening his stranglehold on the ASP World Tour ratings lead.
